Every morning, Uma woke up with dread in her heart. Her husband’s violent rage cast a long shadow over their home, and though she tried to shield her children, they too bore the bruises—physical and emotional—of his anger.
Life was no easier within the home. Her in-laws treated her as a burden, demanding everything from her while offering no support. Her husband, absent for days, returned only to inflict more suffering. Uma worked on others' farms, toiling under the hot sun for a handful of rupees that barely fed her family.
💔 "Hunger, fear, and rejection were my only companions,” Uma shared. “I knocked on every door for help—but they all stayed shut."
With no family to turn to and society labeling her an outcast, Uma whispered prayers into the silence of the night, asking God if He still saw her—if He still cared.
Through the Helping Arms Foundation, Uma found something she had never known before—belonging. Enrolled in the Sewing Program, she was trained, mentored, and surrounded by women who believed in her worth.
Today, Uma wakes up not in fear—but with confidence. She sews beautiful garments that reflect the strength she’s rediscovered, and she shares her story to inspire other women still trapped in silence. Her life is a vivid reminder that God’s grace, paired with community compassion, changes everything.
